For Dennis Morrisseau
In the words of Jonathan Simon: “When the autopsy of American democracy is performed, the cause of death will be given as media silence.”
We know, furthermore, that congress and the media have declared war on the people of the United States. The most recent defense of Peter Welch, our elected servant, by the media is a case in point. The local press defended him from the rabble who criticized him for his lies and betrayals to us and the constitution.
Media silence, yes, and active participation as well. It is the media that gives the light of day to the fake war on terror. It is the media that paved the way for the fascist wish-list that is now in place. It is the media that told us and still tells us that 19 Arabs attacked the US on 9/11/01. It is the media that promoted the fake rationale for the attacks against Afghanistan and Iraq, and is now paving the way for the attack against Iran. It is the media that ignores fraudulent elections. It is the media that our politicians most fear, and, ironically, it is the media that they most count on to do their bidding. It is the media that refuses to give the evidence provided by whistleblowers of government malfeasance and corporate crime, condemning these whistleblowers (and the journalists who dare to support them) to broken lives. Investigative reporter Charlotte Dennett told me that the unemployment lines are littered with journalists who told the truth on certain subjects that rocked the boat.
The media is a vital organ in the body of governmental and corporate interests that have attacked The Constitution of the United States. The media is leading the charge in the attack against democracy and sovereignty around the world.
What Dennis Morrisseau is proposing is an end to an imperious, bloody, haughty and, I hope, doomed usurpation of the commons and of the sovereignty of nations, states, tribes, communities, and individuals wherever they may still exist, or aspire to exist, in some remote corner of the world or some remote place in their own hearts.
For America, the media was the cause of death. Jackals tore at the wounds. Vultures picked up the scraps. What's left is for our congressional delegation who, by their recent votes, have turned public spiritedness, justice, and even patriotism into crimes. They are maggots feeding on America's rotting corpse.
Stand clear. Prosecute. Fire congress. Claim your sovereignty. Secede. Or start over.

Wow, JH!
I'm proud to have my name appear in such an
upright firebreathing piece as this.
Thank you.

Shucks, Dennis.
Great article. However, it fails to address the elephant in the room. Exactly WHO owns the media? No, it's not large faceless corporations. It is a handful of individuals who share one common trait. What might that be?
Rob Says: Tell us, Thistle!
The one trait is the same trait that those in power (with few exceptions) have always shared: the constant attempt to consolidate power.
And with no opposition, it has been a cake walk.
All we have on our side is the truth.
