BACK TO BASICS: It's the War, Stupid

Whenever people complain about town or school taxes, I invite them to take a look at what we are spending on the war in Iraq. The American Friends Service Committee has a two-minute video, One Day = $720 Million, showing what the cost of one day in the war in Iraq could buy. Think $500,000 a minute.

Watch it.

Tell your friends to watch it.

The National Priorities Project has an interactive video which shows you in dollar amounts where your dollars for federal taxes are going: 27% for military, 19% for interest on the debt, 5% for education, and so on.

After you consider these items, you might want to add your voice of protest at the American Friends Service Committee website.

And ask your Congressional representatives why they refuse to impeach Bush/Cheney.

There's also an American war in Afghanistan.

One of my favorite ironies is that America could easily have all the alternative energy systems it would want for the money that gets wasted in the Middle East. I guess war is just more fun. Or more profitable. Or something.

As for those Congressional "representatives," well, anyone who hasn't figured out that the Democrats and the Republicans are in it together hasn't been paying attention. I'm shocked that self-identified "Liberals," think it's going to be any different in 2008!

The only solution is dissolution!
