NOVEL IDEA - "Inter States, A Prospective Novel of 2040," Installment 10

NOVEL IDEA - "Inter States, A Prospective Novel of 2040," Installment 10

Events accelerate and start to converge in Installment 10.  Jake Wilder, Vermont's lone member of the House of Representatives is summoned to a secret, secluded meeting by Vermont's governor, Jeanne Remington.  Governor Remington is moved to act by both electoral developments and the threat of a wave of refugees, taking a risk she feels her office demands.  Hurricane Rhiannon leaves behind a swath of destruction in the Southern and Mid-Atlantic states it crosses, with Grandma and Mike marooned among the wreckage, and severe impacts on their family members back home in the Washington, D.C. area.  Reuniting with them is now crucial, but the obstacles are daunting.  The hurricane poses more than obstacles for travelers.  Concerns are mounting in the US and abroad that the effects of the hurricane, coupled with longer-term trends, may become political in ways no hurricane has caused before.  Jake also realizes he must get back to Washington as soon as possible, despite the challenges.
