THE DAILY MAUL: Green Mountain Daily's "Analysis" of Political "Pragmatism"
Submitted by Rob Williams on Sun, 11/29/2009 - 2:50pm.
There are some days when I weep openly - tear of laughter? embarassment? - at what passes for "analysis" in the Vermont blogosphere.
Take today's post from GMD maestro John Odum.
Full disclosure - as i've pointed out many times at TDM, I read GMD most every day, and learn quite a bit from the bloggers who post there.
Christian Avard's in-depth post on Peter Galbraith
yesterday, for example, was a tour de force.
And then there is Mr. Odum.
You remember him.
He's the fellow who made a point of repeatedly attacking the Vermont independence effort in cyberspace (along with his trusty sidekick, J.D. "Grindhouse" Ryan) a few years back - anonymously, at first, so they didn't have to take responsibility for their allegations, before "breaking" their charges at GMD - quick skillful, those two. Tag team in the snark pit that is the blogosphere.
Mr. Odum is fun to read, as he does like to get his undies in a bundle about all sorts of stuff, often without paying attention to the handwriting on the wall.
Today, he laments polls (polls?!) that seem to indicate that Democrats might not be coming out to the ballot box in quite as high numbers as Republicans in what passes for "elections" in the Empire.
And then, here's the kicker:
On civil rights, economics, the war, Guantanamo, etc - Obama has done
the typical mainstream Democrat thing by letting the right panic him
into running away from campaign promises.
Oh really?
Is that what explains Obama's incrementalism? His continuation of the Imperial status quo?
Problem solved.
Phew.
I can rest easy tonight.
Thanks, GMD.
