The embrace of Burlington as the choice for the basing of the F-35 flies
in the face of common decency in 3 realms: concern for the health,
welfare and property of everyone who lives near the airport, concern
over rapacious and irresponsible government spending and the concern for
the misery, death and hatred of the US that is engendered by our
aggressive, imperialistic military policies.

I got a case of the extra sads when Obama used the term "addicted to oil" the other night and not just because the village idiot used it first.

As a rule, I try to avoid thinking about Sarah Palin but she has officially abandoned the language of reality and now dwells full time in the land of doublethink.

Over the past few days she has demonstrated her break from reality in several remarkable ways. First she suggested that Obama is in the pocket of Big Oil due to it's contributions to his campaign. From politifact:

In anticipation of the USAF Environmental Impact Study due this summer which will herald either the beginning or the end of the USAF's consideration of the Vermont Air National Guard for the F-35 JSF program, I am asking for submissions for my blog:

Lockheed Martin sets out the 4 pillars of the F-35 program. The first
pillar is affordability:

"All variants of the F-35 will be procured within their target
cost range. Operation and support costs will be

Arguments made against people receiving public food assistance who
choose to purchase healthy food make me angry. Not just out of empathy
for anyone so down and out they qualify for food stamps, but out of my
perception of the sheer meanness of the assertion that poor people
should have to use their food stamps to buy the cheapest, crappiest food
they can possibly find so as not to offend the delicate meritocratic
sensibilities of their benefactors.
