I'm sure you've all seen the latest polls showing that 4 in 10 Americans believe in creationism: that God created humans in the last 10,000 yrs, or that 52% of Republicans believe this. This is not surprising as we all know the Repukians are dominated by social conservatives, who are often fundamentalist Christians. So it's not surprising they don't believe in evolution, global warming, or anything else determined by science. After all we know that science has a liberal bias because it's based on reality. Reality was never the Republicans strong point, faith trumps reality as Bush Jr. told us.
What you probably haven't seen is the comparison to other countries on the question of evolution. The US ranks second lowest next to Turkey in belief in evolution.
What is more disturbing is the blind faith of Democrats in their party and their President Obomber. I just had one of those conversations that make you wonder if Democrats are living in a reality based world either. "Obama is a person of great integrity" and "Only Obama can save us from that terrible Romney". "Obama is a war criminal", I said. "No, he's not, how can you say that?"
How can I say that? Obama has murdered hundreds of civilians in drone attacks, renaming collateral damage as terrorists by definition if they are close to a target of drones. He makes secret kill lists of people to assassinate including American citizens, and has the information leaked, because it will be good for his campaign. Americans are bloodthirsty for revenge you see. He has escalated the war on terror and kept the futile war in Afghanistan going for longer than any war in US history. Guantanamo is still open and numerous prisoners are still there who were cleared for release 5 years ago. Imagine if a Republican president did all these things (and they will if elected)? Dimwittocrats would be up in arms. But it's their man, and it's not fascism if their guy does it. I forgot to mention, 8 of 10 of the Bill of Rights are shredded,
The Republicans are terminally ignorant, and the Democrats are terminally naiive. It's hopeless for the US. Long live free Vermont.
